Thanks so much, Rick! I'm glad it was useful. If social media is teaching us anything, it's how we as marketing and PR professionals have to work hard at our craft to create content that has the most impact on our target audience. While the tools are constantly changing and spinning faster and faster, the ageless rules around messaging still apply: keep it catchy, concise, simple and relevant.

Thanks again!

Thanks Tamara, the presentation went very well and the feedback was all positive. If anything it's difficult to condense a social media primer into just over an hour :).

I echo the above sentiment when you are building products that people actually want to buy. Mapping out your Buyer's persona helps you build the right solutions which can then be easily marketed. That way you don't end up in a situation where the "tail wags the dog" -- we have built this thing, now lets go rattle off a litany of features, talk about how we are better than the competition and find someone who cares. Appeal to your Buyer and the rest becomes easy.

Thanks for the comment Dave. Consuming media doesn't necessarily mean simply fun to me. In particular I believe that there will be an opportunity for this to be an alternative device for sales and marketing professionals on the road. Additionally, it has potential to serve as a specialized tool for some industries like healthcare, education as well as any business that requires their employees to spend a significant amount of time outside the office.

That said, the fun factor is certainly a key seller too me and I will see how productivity tools like iWork will make it a practical tool as well.
